Whilst we at the CHC have a great deal of information on our core subjects, navigation and radio communications (W/T) we cannot hope to have all the answers. Below is a list of documents held in the National Archives. However, unlike this site, obtaining copies of the relevant documents will involve a cost, sometimes a huge and hefty cost to obtain the information you want. Getting it is also time consuming and you should allow up to a month before the information drops through your letter box. Nevertheless, if you really want the information it is readily available in British archives. You can circumvent this 'wait' period by visiting the Archives in person and getting the information copied for you in-situ.

  Additionally, some of these subjects have already been covered comprehensively on our site, and for the Signalman on the V/S side of communications, there is much valuable knowledge here not covered by our site. Below is a list of Admiralty Notices that may be of some use - just click on the link, which will take you to the relevant ADM.

  Just click on ADM 186/... in the first column to open the document. From the page you can then order the relevant document but as stated before, it does take time, and it can be very expensive - a major document will set you back £500GBP or so, plus postage insurance if you choose to 'protect' your cost outlay. The further you are from the UK the more expensive (because of postage and postage insurance) it becomes. Good hunting.
