Captain Warner's appointment was in continuation, he being the last Captain of the Signal School when in 'K' Block RNB Portsmouth and first at Leydene, although it was enacted in a very short time frame! His feet hardly touched the ground in RNB.

  Captain Warner fought at Jutland in the cruiser Dublin as a lieutenant in which he was awarded a DSC and earned a MID. He became a specialist in Signals at the end of WW1 taking the 1918 long course. He was promoted captain in December 1936. Just before WW2 he stood by the Tartar during build, commissioned it in March 1939 and was reappointed on the 16th October 1939 relieved by a lieutenant commander as the 1st war CO.

  In other researches I found this article in the archives of the IWM when Captain G H Warner DSC {from WW1} RN was the commanding officer of the RN College in Chester, his next appointment after CSS, which took him to the end of WW2.
